Celebrating our 50th anniversary with Go Texan Day

At the end of February, we’re celebrating a significant milestone across Tokio Marine HCC offices worldwide: our 50th anniversary as a company. For five decades, we've navigated the ever-changing landscape of the insurance industry, weathering storms, seizing opportunities and evolving into a global powerhouse.

Founded in the heart of Houston, Texas, in 1974, our company's roots run deep in the Lone Star State. From small beginnings, we've expanded our reach far beyond borders, establishing a presence in 180 countries and counting with approximately 4,000 employees worldwide. It's a testament to the resilience, innovation and dedication of our team members across the globe, who have played a huge part in our growth and success every step of the way.

 As we prepare to mark this significant milestone, it's only fitting that we honour our Texan heritage by embracing tradition. Go Texan Day is an annual celebration that captures the western heritage of the Lone Star State in all its glory. For our Houston headquarters, it's a time-honoured tradition that paves the way for the arrival of Houston's legendary Rodeo season.

But this year, the festivities extend far beyond the borders of Texas, reaching every corner of our global network. Everyone is encouraged to dress in theme—think cowboy hats, plaid shirts, jeans and cowboy boots. But above all, it’s an event that brings people together with good food, good times and even better company.

For this year’s celebrations in Texas, our Houston-based colleagues gathered for the annual Go Texan Day luncheon—a feast which showcased the southern state’s tasty offerings. The Luncheon was celebrated over two days, both filled with delicious Texas BBQ, raffle prizes and a funnel cake truck. But it wouldn’t have been complete without a live DJ, so everyone can show off their best country dance moves!

Meanwhile, across the Atlantic in London, our office is marking the special day with a trip to the Moonshine Saloon—an immersive experience that transports us back in time to the Wild West. Nestled in the centre of London, this hidden spot offers a taste of Americana like no other, with authentic decor, fun games, roleplay actors and a storyline that unfolds before your eyes.

As we prepare for this company milestone, let us pause to reflect on the journey that has brought us to this moment. Let’s celebrate the wins, the challenges and the countless memories that have shaped us into the company we are today. And let's look to the future as we embark on the next chapter of Tokio Marine HCC together.
