Christmas Jumper Day Fundraiser

This year, the UK Charity Committee and the TME Charity Committee put their heads together to come up with a festive fundraising initiative: a Christmas Jumper Day across all our offices in the UK and Europe. The response from staff was brilliant - and more importantly, it resulted in a donation of more than €20,000 to local food banks.

Christmas

In a world of constant change, Tokio Marine HCC (TMHCC) attempts to be aware of changing global dynamics and always tries to provide effective responses where they are most needed. Christmas can be one of the most expensive times of the year and the cost-of-living crisis has made things even tougher for many people to stay on top of their finances.

TMHCC International’s Charity Committees wanted to provide some frontline support to struggling families and to offer help where it would have an immediate impact. So, on Thursday 15 December, employees from our offices across the UK and Europe were invited to wear a Christmas jumper and donate towards their local food banks.

Although the local recipient food banks are not designated TMHCC International charity partners
(read more about our long-term charity strategy here) they were chosen for their unique position to support struggling families all over the UK and Europe. Their ability to help people at a time of real need made them an excellent and popular choice amongst our employees to receive the funds.

Overall, our employees raised €7,252 (£6,263), to which TMHCC then added its own donation to take the grand total to €21,755 (£18,791). The fund recipients include:

All of these foodbanks provide essential support to a growing number of people. For instance, in the UK, The Trussell Trust runs more than 1,200 foodbanks.

Between April 2019 and March 2020, their network’s food banks provided a record 1.9 million food supplies to people in crisis, an 18% increase from the previous years.

The Christmas Jumper Day campaign brought a smile to many people’s faces and gave employees across our offices the chance to come together as one, while still helping people in the local communities where they live.

Thanks to all who took part, and best wishes for 2023.
