Every autumn, London’s Trafalgar Square comes alive with the colour, music, and energy of Japan Matsuri, a festival showcasing centuries of tradition alongside the vibrancy of modern Japanese culture. On Sunday 21 September, thousands of people, including Tokio Marine HCC International (TMHCCI) employees, gathered once again to enjoy a day of performances, food, and family fun at this much-loved cultural event.
The Matsuri carries a special meaning for TMHCCI, as our parent company, the Tokio Marine Group, was founded in Japan in 1879 and now operates in 46 countries worldwide. Events like these reflect the heritage that continues to shape our identity today and remind us of our shared values across borders.
This year’s festival featured everything from traditional dance and martial arts demonstrations to lively music, children’s activities, and plenty of Japanese street food. The atmosphere was one of celebration and inclusion, offering visitors a chance to experience both the richness of Japanese history and the creativity of its present.
“As part of one of Japan’s largest companies, we were honoured to sponsor the event and to join in with so many of the festivities. Being present at the Matsuri is about more than cultural exchange. It’s about honouring our organisation’s origins while embracing the global perspective that defines our company today,” said one attendee from TMHCCI.
This year’s Matsuri was another resounding success, and we are delighted to have contributed to its spirit of community and cultural connection. Moments like these reaffirm the importance of our heritage and the pride we share in celebrating it together.
