Hutton succeeds Sean Curtin, President of Specialty Group, in leading the global Crisis Management business. He assumes overall responsibility for Kidnap & Ransom, Product Recall, Active Assailant and their related product lines. His remit for the Global Crisis Management business will span strategy, operations, underwriting and financial performance across the United States, Canada, South America, Europe and Asia.
Hutton joined Specialty Group in May 2024 as Head of Crisis Management, International, to launch its Product Recall offering in London and extend the group’s US product recall expertise into international markets. He brings three decades of industry experience, having previously served as Global Product Head for Product Recall at AXA XL and Head of Casualty at McLarens Young International. Prior to this, he developed a market-leading book at XL Catlin.
Sean Curtin, President of Specialty Group, said: “Mark established our international Product Recall business from the ground up, and has brought a strong track record in global underwriting management to our Crisis Management business. His promotion reflects both his underwriting leadership and the broader strategic role he already plays, and he is exceptionally well-placed to lead Crisis Management into its next chapter. I am certain the business will continue to go from strength to strength under his leadership.”
Mark Hutton, Chief Underwriting Officer and Global Head of Crisis Management, said: “Over the past two and a half years it has been a pleasure to build out the Product Recall portfolio in London and strengthen the crisis response services behind our policies. We are market leaders in the majority of our business lines and I am excited to be stepping up into this global role, continuing to build the business across the globe from our existing centres of excellence in the US and Europe and to be there for our clients when it matters most.”
