Earlier this month, Tokio Marine HCC International (TMHCCI) recognised International Women’s Day (IWD), a global initiative to celebrate the achievements of women, reflect on progress, and renew our commitment to gender equality.
This year’s theme, ‘Give to Gain’, encouraged us to think about the power of generosity. By sharing our time, knowledge and support, we can create meaningful change. When we give to others, we strengthen our communities, build confidence and open doors to new opportunities, not only for women but for everyone.
Throughout the week, we shared a series of Q&As featuring powerful women from across our business. These stories offered insight into career journeys, leadership lessons and personal reflections, shining a light on the breadth of talent and experience across our organisation.
Several reflections resonated strongly, with Gülsah Dagdelen, Cyber Manager, sharing:
“Never be scared of any decision you take. No matter which phase of life you are in, if you want it, you will get it. Confidence grows through action.”
Kemi-corrine Howard, Learning & Development Advisor, reminded us of the importance of self-belief:
“You don’t need to feel 100% ready to be worthy of being heard… confidence often follows the courage to act.”
Finally, Ros Breese, Underwriting Director - Media, Film & TV, shared her motto that captures the power of speaking up and seizing opportunities:
“If you don’t ask, you don’t get.”
By amplifying these voices, we can continue to build visibility, representation and inspiration for future generations.

We were incredibly proud of colleagues who volunteered at Hestia Charity’s International Women’s Day event, supporting women and children who access their domestic abuse services.
At this event, our volunteers worked alongside these women to create vision boards; a powerful and creative way to reflect on goals, aspirations and new beginnings. Putting goals into a visual format can make them feel more tangible and achievable, helping to turn hope into action.
This hands-on support reflected the theme #GiveToGain in action, by giving time and encouragement to help others move forward with confidence.

Our offices also hosted a range of local initiatives to mark the occasion, including educational sessions and workshops, fundraising activities, and networking events. Colleagues wore purple to show solidarity, joined discussions on gender equality and connected through our Women’s Community network. Each of these moments contributes to a wider culture of belonging and inclusion.
In London, we hosted a masterclass with presenting coach Emilie West of Alchemy Coaching, focused on confident communication. The interactive session offered practical techniques to overcome imposter syndrome and influence audiences. Colleagues from UK and European offices joined in person and online, before networking over drinks and canapés to practice skills and strengthen connections.
International Women’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate progress while also recognising that the journey towards equality continues. Through our Workplace Group initiatives and the ongoing work of our Women’s Community, we remain committed to creating an environment where everyone feels supported to thrive.
Thank you to everyone who took part, volunteered, shared their stories and showed their support this year.
